Heaven’s Home is a loving, Christ-centered, short-term respite home for child survivors of sexual exploitation, trafficking & SRA in America. This service offers a peaceful family-style setting while providing critical, trauma-informed care tailored to meet the unique needs of these children. The services available aim to help stabilize, heal, and empower survivors while preparing them for longer-term healing placements or reunification with family and loved ones.
Heaven’s Home offers two aspects of service in collaboration with law enforcement, service professionals, and/or family.
Emergency Placement / Short-Term: Heaven’s Home is a direct service provider & support for law enforcement or other service professionals who discover a minor/child who is exiting an exploitation/ trafficking/ SRA situation and is in need of immediate safe respite while the logistical details are coordinated. The House Parents, Executive Director & Service Team work in full partnership with the appropriate entities to ensure the safe placement of the child in either a long-term healing service, placement with a foster family, or their return home to loved ones.
An expected stay for this service can range from 1 overnight to 2 weeks, as time is of the essence for the best/expedited care for the child. While trauma needs & counseling can be met during this time for stabilization and safety purposes, Heaven’s Home does not offer deep-healing trauma services in this phase. This limits the need of a “rehash” when the child enters a place of permanency. Heaven’s Home does offer a sweet space of safety, to rest and be free, while their other service details are being arranged.
Coordination, cooperation & assistance with transportation &/or assistance with attending appointments are available for the child through our House Parents & Service Team.
Short-Term Respite Healing: So many children have fallen victim to sexual exploitation, sex trafficking, or SRA and have never received proper healing from this traumatic experience.
Heaven’s Home opens our doors to welcome these children into a loving, nurturing, Christ-centered, family environment. Each child is allowed to flow naturally into one-on-one healing sessions with the House Mom, who is a trauma-healing professional with 15 years of experience. Together, they will target the traumatic experiences the child has lived through and help bring freedom with the Great Healer, Jesus, at the center of it all.
During their stay, they will be able to “take their innocence back” and be a child with arts, crafts, music, games, outside play, family meals, quiet times, outings, and even help caring for the family garden and chickens.
An expected stay for this service can be 3 - 7 days with follow-up support, as needed, when the child returns to their loved ones.
Within the services, all basic living needs are met: Meals, shelter, clothing & toiletries.
Through loving donations from our community supporters, many other items are provided: games, movies, crafts, toys/ stuffed animals, bags/ suitcases & more
